Description
You may be aware that cloud computing is now what social media was when it was first introduced – most people have heard of it but they’re not quite sure what it is, how it works or how it will help their business. Actually, cloud computing is a way for businesses to use technology services that include infrastructure, applications and/or storage space for a nominal fee.
But people have been using the cloud for years – when they watch Netflix, save files to their Dropbox or even post on Facebook. Until recently, cloud computing was limited to big corporations that could afford the massive investment required in technology, but now even the smallest businesses can enjoy and afford all the advantages of being in the cloud as well.
In his talk, “Cloud Computing Basics for Business Owners,” Chris Ploessel, president of RedNight Consulting, an Orange County-based cloud migration provider, will share:
- The advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing and its applicability to certain kinds of businesses
- What’s involved in migrating their data to the cloud
- Why the cloud provides greater access, ownership and security of their data, regardless of what happens to their own hardware
