Before joining the Assembly\, he served on the San Diego City Council\, where he championed the city's Equal Pay Ordinance and chaired the Regional Task Force on the Homeless. Ward holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and lives in University Heights with his family.
