His presentation is titled\, ?Why Women? Why Girls? ? A Man?s Perspective. \n\n \n\n A renowned social documentary photographer and filmmaker\, Phil Borges has lived with and documented indigenous and tribal cultures around the world. Through his work\, he strives to create a heightened understanding of the issues faced by people in the developing world. In 2004\, Phil partnered with the organization CARE to bring attention to the necessity of empowering women in the global campaign to alleviate poverty. Phil traveled to Africa\, Asia and South America to gather the stories of extraordinary women in remote parts of the world who have empowered themselves and their communities. These remote and mostly unknown women were on the vanguard of a global shift toward gender equality. His most recent work\, Portraits of Progress\, is a breathtaking collection of photos that captures the lives of the women of Liberia.\n\n \n\n The Foundation for Women provides small business loans and educational tools to poor industrious women in Liberia and San Diego\, helping them improve life for themselves and their families.
