DESCRIPTION:Leadership Alumni Breakfast\n\n\n\nCome and reconnect with your fellow Graduates and learn about the Leadership East County - 2nd Year Masters Program.\n\n\n\nSpecial guest speaker Gary Gallegos - Executive Director of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG).\n\n\n\nSponsored by:\n\n\n\n\n\nMr. Gallegos is a nationally recognized expert in the areas of transportation\, land use\, regional public policymaking\, and bi-national planning and diplomacy.  He leads a staff of nearly 200 professionals who collaborate to develop public initiatives for elected officials on numerous issues encompassing population growth\, transportation\, environmental management\, economic development\, municipal finance\, bi-national coordination\, and public safety.  Under his direction \, the agency has crafted an innovative $42 billion Regional Transportation Plan\, "Mobility 2030\," to address the region's transportation needs.  \n\n\n\nIn 2004\, Mr. Gallegos led the charge to gain a 67 percent voter approval to extend the local half-cent transportation sales tax program know as TransNet\, which will generate $14 billion to help fund highway\, transit\, and local road improvements.  Mr. Gallegos holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of new Mexico and is a registered civil engineer.
