Goodwill Industries of San Diego County is a 501(c)(3) charitable, not-for-profit organization, established in 1930 in Downtown San Diego at 16th and Imperial by a group of community leaders with a vision. After more than 60 years in the Gaslamp quarter, in 1994 we moved our offices to our current site in Point Loma. Goodwill believes that work is one of the foundations of a meaningful life. In our over 82 years in this industry, we have witnessed the dramatic impact of the POWER OF WORK.
Today across San Diego County we operate 24 retail stores, 6 bookstores, 5 employment centers and many donation sites.
In the beginning we were simply known as an employer of persons with disabilities. Today's Goodwill is a vital, proactive organization that, in addition to providing training and paid work experience to people with developmental disabilities, also offers free services to anyone in the community who is looking for a job.
How do we achieve our purpose? We do not conduct traditional fundraising activities, instead we use the revenue from selling donated goods to help fund the operation of our training and employment services.
