Understanding the many benefits of the Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement.
Employers set a specific amount they would like to contribute toward employees’ monthly premium cost
Employees use the ICHRA funds allocated to them to purchase individual health plans
Employer and employee premiums are pre-tax (payroll tax savings)
Employer can set the contribution amount as flat dollar rate or as a percent of the total cost
Under 50 employees, the allocation amount can be whatever the employer decides
‒ Over 50 employees, the minimum contribution level (ACA affordability) requirements kick in – for compliance
