With employment law what it is, operating a business in California can be challenging for business owners and this challenge often trickles down to those managing the workforce. This course focuses on liability and how to avoid it by providing an introductory overview of various employment laws affecting the workplace, as well as of the ways in which potential liability issues may affect supervisors and managers.

This course will cover protected classes and areas of potential liability, key aspects in determining exempt and non-exempt status and where common problems occur, and information on wage and hour laws including California’s “Big Six”. A review of leaves of absences and supervisor communication is also provided in this course.
